A Software Developer in my shoes, by Meera Nagesh

In this series of ‘In our shoes’ blogs, Triad Software Developer Meera Nagesh talks about life as a software developer and why she enjoys working with different client teams.

How would you describe your role?

As a software developer, I design, code, test, and maintain software applications or systems. In an ever-changing world, the requirements of the user are also changing at a very fast pace. The “software needs” of the world is also increasing. As a developer or as a part of the team, I cater to the digital needs of everyone.

What do you most enjoy about your role?

Lots of things. I enjoy the challenge of figuring out elegant solutions to software problems through design and development. I also have the opportunity to learn continuously, be it different design patterns or intellectual things. I get to work with people who have a common goal of delivering the best quality outcomes. And I feel happy when I see the impact of creating products and solutions that have real-world use.

How do you find working in different client teams?

I love it. Every challenge is different. As a team, everyone works together to achieve the goal in the best possible way. We get to explore different options and choose the right one that would benefit the client.

Triad’s goal is to transform through technology. Since working for Triad, how have you helped make people’s lives better through technology?

People use technology now in almost every part of their life, from a smartwatch to a smart washing machine. Through simple user-centric designs, I can turn what should be a complex task into something that is accessible and easy to use.

I can develop software applications and IoT (Internet of Things) devices that promote environmental sustainability. For example, an energy monitoring system could send a simple alert to the user when their energy bill reaches the limit set. Small things like these can amount to big changes we need for a responsible world, and I can play my part by utilising technology.

What’s your superpower?

My superpower is that I can work with a team and motivate the team to perform. In my role, communication is a great skill to have. It’s important to break down complexity into bite-size pieces. Also, conveying what is on your mind is very important when working in technology.

What do you think makes Triad different from other IT Consultancies?

Triad is a very warm company. The people at Triad go above and beyond to make sure you are happy in what you are doing. The collection of public and private sector work has given me a wide range of projects and opportunities. We also get to explore new technologies, so personal development always continues.

What would you say to someone considering joining Triad?

Do it! You’ll experience diverse projects for different clients, and it is this diversity that can keep the work interesting and challenging. You’ll invariably solve complex problems for businesses and organisations and then see how your work has improved systems, processes, and efficiencies. It can be very rewarding.
