Legal firms often operate a number of systems such as practice management, document access control, knowledge management and CRM. This can create problems for users trying to locate information.

Triad has demonstrated that Microsoft SharePoint can be used to create intranet portals giving easier and more up to date access to data.

For example Triad's NMI (New Matter Intake) solution framework enables us to deliver SharePoint sites for law firms which integrate with their Practice Management Systems. Users can create a new matter through an

interface in SharePoint and the matter will automatically be created in Elite. Users can then add documents or calendar events and tag them against the relevant matter. Permission management within SharePoint is used to ensure that access to matter data can be limited to the relevant users.

The NMI solution framework has recently been extended for a law firm in a dual branded Extranet solution. This enables the law firm clients to enter the summary details of new matters themselves and to view a subset of the associated documents and events.

Triad has built a number of systems for financial services companies based on SharePoint.

These have included custom workflow solutions to manage processes such as private dealing notifications for compliance purposes and the review and approval of Net Asset Values summaries or marketing material. Where necessary this has included Custom elements such as locking down documents to prevent further edits, or enhanced deadline functionality where the workflow's deadline for action, and subsequent reminder, can be defined in hours and minutes compared to the 'Out of the box' options of days or weeks.

Triad has then used their experience of SharePoint personalisation to present users with screens of outstanding tasks and the ability to easily search across workflow data and related documents.

Triad has also created custom search solutions based on SharePoint to reduce the effort required to find documents spread across SharePoint sites, file shares and document management systems.

We are currently working with a number of universities and colleges using Microsoft SharePoint to build solutions that allow them to publicise their organisations internally and externally as well as streamline their internal processes.

Typically institutions need to collaborate with a large number of disparate students and distribute course material. They must also have means to collate student information so that the college has up to date information on arrivals, experience, course expectations and so on.

Recently we have built an Extranet solution that allows staff to create a course site from a template, which then uses workflow to generate the related libraries, lists and web parts, simply with the click of a button.
